Mengding Ganlu 1st Flush
The first tea of the 2021 harvest is here! Harvested and processed in February, this freshly picked green tea comes from Meng Mountain in Sichuan, China. Ganlu translates as "Sweet Dew." It is believed the first tea bushes to be cultivated were planted at Meng Mountain. Before that tea was picked from wild tea bushes.
The delicate tea leaves have lots of white buds. The tea has sweeter notes when steeped at a lower termperature (180 degrees) and smells like sugar cookies. At a higher temperatures (190 degrees), there are more vegetal notes of buttery artichoke heart.
Because it's an expensive tea (aka rare and shipped by air), you can purchase it in a 1 or 2 oz size. Quanitities are very limited.
