Specialty Tea Institute Level 1 and 2 Classes

Posted by Amy R at

As I mentioned in my blog post, Why Tea, last spring I set off to learn as much as I could about tea. I started on the Internet reading articles about tea, subscribing to tea blogs, studying the health benefits, and anything else related to tea. Somewhere during my research I read about tea classes and a certification program offered by the Specialty Tea Institute which is affiliated with the Tea Association of the USA. In a stroke of good fortune they offered a Level 1 and 2 Tea class in Seattle in mid-April. I have since learned that they...

Imagery

We love the tea!  However, as much as we love the tea and are super excited to share it with as many as possible, one thing we are not are visual artists.  After all, we're at least passingly sufficient or better at such things as: product selection, operations, technology, customer service, etc., but we don't have as much experience with creating rich and full visual imagery.  I mean, at our cores, we're pragmatists when it comes to this kind of thing.  But that's not how we wanted to showcase the fantastic teas and products we've found in our journeys -...

Why Tea?

Many of my friends and family have wondered about my 180 degree shift from high tech, B2B (business-to-business) marketing to tea, a low tech, B2C (business-to-consumer) agricultural product. Cold brewing is awesome!

If you're like me, you always have a drink of something at hand.  In my early years it was coffee or diet cola. Add twenty years, a couple of kids and an overly sedentary job driving a computer, and you can guess the results - too much weight and an unhealthy addiction to caffeine. So when my wife, who has been a tea aficionado forever, got serious about getting a tea business going, and looking at the possible ruin of my health in a few short years, I decided that it was high time to give tea a serious try. My...

Steeping it up

There are a lot of teas out there!  We know, we've tried an awful lot of them.  If you're like we used to be, then it can be a bit daunting and mystifying trying to find great cups of tea.  That's why we set out on this journey.  We're also really stoked about the health benefits that tea consumption can give to you, especially when opposed to soda pop, coffee, juices, etc.. We are really excited to have reached this stage.  Lots of effort has gone in to identifying teas and products: We've consumed gallons and gallons of tea across hundreds of...
