Gear Up to Make Loose Leaf Tea at Home

Posted by Will R at

If you're used to making tea with tea bags, then switching to loose leaf can be a little daunting. There are many good reasons to make the switch: higher quality tea, less waste from the bags and wrappers, no glue or chemicals from the tea bags, etc. Here are some tools to help you steep awesome tea, a little easier.

While we sell great infusers, we have found that because of our size, we cannot be price competitive on electronics. Thus, we recommend these products on Amazon.

Electric Tea Kettle: in Europe electric kettles are common in many homes because they heat water quickly (5 min or less). There is a wide price range for kettles. On the higher end you find features like water temperature control and style. On the lower end, you get fast, boiling water without the bells and whistles!
Water Heater and Warmer: if you and your housemates or co-workers drink tea all day long, we recommend the Zojirushi Hybrid Water Boiler And Warmer. Most homes and offices in Japan have one of these in their kitchen for making tea in the morning, afternoon and evening. It's also handy for instant oatmeal, ramen and more. There are various water temperature settings. We like to keep ours at 208 for black and herbal teas and add a little cold water if we're making green, white or oolong teas.
High Tech Tea Maker: if you want a tea maker that steeps the tea for you, many of our customers rave about the Breville BTM800XL Tea Maker
